Big Sur

Big sur

There is nothing quite like Big Sur. I had some of my favorite childhood memories there. Just the smell there brings it all back. I quote from @lacawanna my BFF since 1994, “Oh the first loves, sleepovers, the secrets, and pure bliss this place has seen. Thanks for all the good times Big Sur, you forever have my childhood”.  Memorial weekend at Big Sur was a must from the time I was in diapers. My family and many family friends would come…..and we let the camping, beaching, gaming, biking, and roasting party begin year after year.

I was so happy that I got to bring the hubs back. It was a very random time of the year to go so it was just Pfeiffer State park and ourselves.  Here is a very amateur video that I threw together. I promise my next ones will be better (or I promise that I will try).

Favorite moment: definitely waking up in our coverless tent and soaking in the nature like wannabe granolas. ;)We had big plans to go on a big hike early in the morning but we did not leave that tent until 10:00.

Worst moment: I just finished the Elizabeth Smart book (which rules, read it in two days) and just as we laid down to fall asleep I could not get the creepy man who kidnaps her out of my head. The whole night I kept thinking of how easy it would be for someone to come and take me. I could not fall asleep, I made Ryan practically lay on top of me to “protect me.” Haha. I guess writing this makes me realize that I am a huge scaredy cat….

Monterey

Monterey

Ok, first off if you have good company it does not matter what you do. You are bound for a good time with the Bills.  But this day was priceless because it was a most perfect day in January. We could have been wearing swimsuits! Another thing that made it perfect was how pretty Monterey is! I felt like I was in a postcard the whole day! We ate lunch in Carmel which has a European feel to it. Carmel is a pretty quaint town. We finished the day off by going to the Fisherman's Wharf were we of course had to try every free sample of clam chowder (I think that there is 12 restaurants on that pier). Ryan and I showed off our dancing moves that we have been practicing. Haha. We then got Marian's Ice cream which is delissssshh. I would say that was a successful Saturday!

Just be mermaids

Wait guys am I really that short???

Hey kayla thanks for the Selfie

Favorite moment: Watching the sunset on the "17 mile drive." Everyone needs to do the 17 mile drive, it is honestly breath taking

Ryan’s favorite moment: Sneaking into the Pebble Beach golf course, which is one of the most famous gold courses in the world. We even snuck into the county club to use the bathroom and check out the pool. We felt so glam.

Worst moment: being so hungry and trying to find a place to eat at. Little did we know practically all the restaurants in Carmel either don’t open until after 3, or are closed for lunch.

SF has my heart

THE CITY

San Francisco always will have my heart. Ryan and I did one of my favorite things in the city for his birthday. He turned the big 25! Huge quarter life crisis. haha. I would say that January 14th was a pretty epic day though. We put my family’s bikes in the back of the car and drove into the city. We parked at the garage at Pier 39 and rode our bikes all through the city and all the way up and across the bridge.

I just wanted to do a little shout out to my boo because he is such an example to me in so many ways. From his straight A's to his rhythm on the dance floor.  He never fails. This sounds real cheesy, but I really do look up to him. He is the hardest worker and is always trying to be his best version of himself. It is so fun to spend every day with my best friend.

Proud moment: San Francisco is known for their hills, and lets be honest I am not the best bike rider. I had to give myself a huge pat on the back when I did not get off the bike on the hill leading up to the bridge, and when I passed not one, not two, but 3 ladies! Without mentioning their age (cough 50’s cough) I will still take it!

Worst moment: I would like to say that Ryan is a very cautious person. So yes, he made not only himself, but me wear a helmet with our beach cruisers around the city.

ps. Here are some snaps of random sf days
did I tell you we like the giants…

My LAKE

TAHOE

I have grown up with a cabin in Tahoe since I was about six. Over the past few years, my family sold our first house and bought a new one. The couple years without having a house there made me realize how much I need Tahoe in my life. Tahoe is a little peace of heaven. In the summer we boat and play outside, and in the winter we ski and snowboard. I just love the trees next to the lake. The lake is so blue, which creates a beautiful contrast with the trees.

Here are some pictures from when we went over the summer with friends, and some other pictures from when we were there with family over Christmas break.
