First Trip as 2 people

Ze honayymoon

Our honeymoon was a typical blissful Hawaii trip. We spent a week on the beautiful island of Kauai. Nothing but beach time, over-eating, laying out, and relaxing….Well, until Ryan got this idea that we needed to try and do everything that Kauai has to offer. Next thing I knew, I felt like I had seen the whole island! Ryan found all of the must-do's in a book called The Ultimate Kauai Guidebook: Kauai Revealed (http://www.amazon.in/The-Ultimate-Kauai-Guidebook-Revealed/dp/0981461018). He stayed up late one night reading this book, and the next thing that I knew he was a Kauai expert!

Wait…is that Aerial???

What We Did:

Helicopter ride around the island—Although this was expensive and only lasted about an hour, it was a fun way to see the island. Due to the price, we would not do it again, but it was a fun one and done. We flew over incredible water falls, the Na Pali Coast, Waimea Canyon, the wettest spot on the planet, and some other amazing scenery.

Scuba Diving – We set sail on a boat that took us along the Napali Coast and then to the forbidden island Niihau to go scuba diving. Im not afraid of much…but sharks have always been at the top of the list. After a few minutes of being under the water, I got so afraid that I pulled an Along Came Polly on Ryan and would not let go our tour guides hand… haha ;)
sweet shades babe :/

Kayaking up the Wailua River and hiking to Secret Falls— Our guild reminded me of Pocahontas. Just a pretty native with long black hair bare footing through the jungle and telling us about the animals, waterfall, plants, and of course…. The colors of the wind

Driving to see Waimea Canyon. Very unique canyon that Mark Twain called the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific."

Dukes Restaurant is a must! Fish tacos are definitely my fav.

Honeymoon low — I forgot to put sunscreen on the back of my legs…and after surfing…I guess I should say trying to surf, my legs were on fire!!! They were literally bright red and stung for dayzzz….you might be able to spot the red legs in this pic.

Honeymoon High: the resort double booked our room so they upgraded us to a pent house that had space for dayzzz. It was HUGE. And so nice!

In conclusion… I miss my wedding/ honeymoon bod :(

Ryan's Rant:

I have been to Oahu, Maui, and Kauai. Although I loved all three islands, if I had to choose a favorite it would be Kauai. It is my favorite because it is the most lush and due to the small size. Not nearly as crowded as Oahu, and it is a quick drive from one side of the island to the other. Also, the Napali coast is incredible. Of the activities that we did, our favorite was kayaking up the Wailua River to Secret falls. It was a nice blend of kayaking, hiking, and incredible scenery. It also was relatively affordable compared to scuba diving or a helicopter tour. The helicopter tour is by no means a must-do in our opinion. We enjoyed it, but it was not worth the cost. There are much better and more affordable ways to see the island. We plan to go back to Kauai to hike along the Kalalau trail. It is a trail along the Napali coast to a secluded beach called Ke'e Beach. Although it is a long hike, we have heard that it is a must for nature lovers.

Kauai is a expensive place. According to a worker at the closest grocery store to our hotel, we were shopping in the most expensive grocery store in the country. I was definitely not a fan of those prices, but we quickly realized that there was a Costco on the island. Can you say game changer?
