About Us

Join us on this adventure we call life! Our names are Ryan and Nicole Barlow. We live in Salt Lake City, but will be moving in a few short months so Ryan can start medical school (most likely will be moving to Texas). We have been married for close to three years and have a strong passion for traveling. The purpose of this blog is to share our travel adventures with friends and family, to give others an idea of things they should know/do in the destinations that we have been to, and to give ideas of how to travel as students with limited income. In "2people1suitcase" we realize because of the route that we have chosen (medical school) we will not be traveling as much as we would like. But this blog will also lean toward the  idea of putting two lives into one suitcase and the ways of finding not just traveling but activities in this new state that we will be exploring together and little trips we can do on our small budget that we have for money and time. We hope that just about anyone will find something of interest in our blog, but we expect that most of our readers will be young students like ourselves. The blog will be a blend of material from both us. Nicole will focus on the trips and activities that we have been able to take and the memories and people we have met. Ryan will write about the logistics of these trips. Meaning, the details regarding the finances of our trips, credit card travel perks, planning the trip, etc.

I was born and raised in Danville, California which is located in the East Bay. I came to Utah for college where I met my husband. After graduating with a degree in Business management and modern dance I guess you could say I'm ready to start a new adventure. Im excited for our next place of residence. Not to be.. what the phrase "tooting my own horn" but I like to think that Ryan and I make a good pair in the blog life..  I can nail out the fun memories or sentimental parts of our traveling experiences which to me is the most interesting and the most enjoyable parts to look back on....On the other hand Ryan is very good at remember the small details of how we got there why were are there and the history behind it.  (which is cool too...i guess ;)

Traveling as a student is difficult due to obvious financial constraints. However, we have been able to visit 15 countries in the past two years with smart planning and credit card sign up bonuses. My purpose throughout this blog will be to share some of the ways that we have planned for our trips and been able to travel the world for a relatively low price.
